Most people notice a transmission the way they notice a refrigerator: only when it starts doing something it never used to do. A faint buzz at a steady 40 mph on Sunset Boulevard. A shudder is usually the torque converter clutch, not the transmission slipping

That is a nearly new truck with a genuine shudder whose fix is a piece of plumbing.
